As a result of the revised information from the Government Wagtails is now temporarily closed to all but Welfare Grooms
The Government department DEFRA have released new guidance to Pet Groomers which introduce further restrictions on how we can operate. This in the light of the national lockdown imposed by Government on 6th January 2021 because of Coronavirus. The first paragraph of the guidelines now states:
"Groomers may accept a dog to be groomed by appointment where this is necessary for the animal’s welfare and not simply for aesthetic reasons. Welfare reasons could include on veterinary advice for a skin condition or excessive matting causing the pet discomfort. When routine grooming can be delayed without affecting the pet’s welfare until the national lockdown is eased it should be put off."
The links below provide further reading on the current regulations and restrictions:
I will be contacting all my customers who have sessions booked to discuss your pets individual circumstances. But unless you pets condition falls within the rules mentioned above, then it is likely that I will have to re-schedule your pets grooming session until after the current lockdown, or until the Government relax the regulations again.
If while waiting for the lockdown to end your pet develops a skin condition, becomes matted and this is causing discomfort, or you have a referral from a Vet, then please get in touch to arrange an appointment. Please note that to comply with Colchester Council requirements, you will be requested to sign a form confirming the groom is for welfare purposes (photos may also be taken as evidence to back this up).
As soon as the Government publish further information, or relax the rules so that I can fully re-open I will post further updates here and on Facebook
Thank you all for your continued support and understanding, it means so much to me.
